Good morning, Grammar Nanny!

Our Grammar Nanny has a suggestion to start off your day by setting a good example for your children and increasing language skills at the same time.

BY JEAN HAYWARD

Teach your children from an early age to say, “Good Morning, Name” to their siblings, parents, grandparents, neighbours, or anyone else who is appropriate.

We teach our toddlers, but the novelty seems to wear off as they get older. Let your little ones know that people feel great when you use their name.

As children model the adults in their lives, if we greet those we encounter with a cheery “Good Morning!” or “Good Evening!” they will learn from our example and suggestion.

Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all did this – kind of like the olden days?
