August is upon us. Do you feel like the last day of school is so far behind us, and that you would like to keep your child engaged during the summer? Our Grammar Nanny Jean Hayward has put together some easy ideas for Kids in the Hills.

Jean Hayward ~ The Grammar Nanny

Here is a fresh idea to keep vocabulary growing as we head into August.

Teach your child a new word such as ‘persevere”.

Use it as often as you can, in appropriate context for a week.

Make up sentences that relate to their world; in this case something like “Sorting your toys is a huge job, but you can do it, if you persevere.”

By the end of the week, the word will be part of your child’s vocabulary. They will feel pretty clever. Be sure to give lots of positive attention!
